Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

I love reggae, and I’ve been getting more into it in the past few years. I guess what I love about this one is it’s not Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s expected signature sound – he barely uses delay or feedback as he usually does, and that makes this record so different from anything else. I feel this conscious melody and super well-composed structure is unexpected from him. It’s just a record that I love listening to from beginning to end. It makes me question how I can achieve that level of distortion through tape or manipulation.
