2. Teenage Jesus And The JerksTeenage Jesus And The Jerks

I discovered it in the last 10 years, probably. I was into Sonic Youth’s Confusion Is Sex, which I still love, but then I heard this and joined some dots. It’s just got so much attitude. Someone put me in touch with Jim Sclavunos, because I’m trying to figure out how they came to that music – I know about the no wave scene and stuff, but that stands out to me as something different, and very influential. I’ve found music that sounds like it after, but not music that particularly sounds like it before it. I also love that the drummer’s just playing floor tom and cymbal, but it’s doing exactly what you want it to do.
