Both this and NEU! come from the same moment in German culture. When I discovered this album I just had to get their whole discography. I think there’s something crazy about Germany in the ’70s. At that time Germany had to reinvent itself. And krautrock’s just that. It’s so far from American or English music. They’re completely free of influences even if they know this culture. They had to be away from that and invent a new thing. These postwar years were like a reconstruction. Artists were doing something else, not copying western traditions at all.
