Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

I actually came across her music because my friend and producer Seth [Manchester] is currently working with the band and so he sent me some recordings of what they were working on in the studio. I believe he’s mixing remotely but as soon as I heard it I was just transfixed, and went back and looked through her entire discography. She writes music and vocalises in the Moorish tradition but there’s a bit of like, psych and experimental guitar work and band work in the music. But the main thing that draws me to it is her voice, I think it’s just wild and there’s so much skill, so much acrobatics and just really, really incredible vocalising. That’s really inspiring to me.
