Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10. ParamoreParamore

JH: I really like Paramore. I feel like in the ‘critical’ world they’ve never been championed enough. Their pop songs are so great. I feel like Hayley Williams, not just as a performer, but also as a person has been really inspirational, to a lot of people in a scene with very few female fronted artists. She writes a lot about mental health, but in a really uplifting way, which I found really appealing. I found them helpful in bad times. I’m not into pop punk at all, which makes it funny that I like Paramore so much. I love the way they’ve changed their sound up with every album and still retained their fanbase. This record was their first departure into pop.
