Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

13. Burning Star CorePapercuts Theater

I met C. Spencer Yeh in Brooklyn when he still lived in Cincinnati. . .he’s in Brooklyn now and he’s an amazing improviser. But this record is an amazing collage of over 40 performances recorded in his Cincinnati performance space. . .it is a mesmerizing and transcendent document that rises way above the sum of it’s parts. It’s a 4 sided noise record that I can listen to in one sitting… a really special release that I don’t think got enough attention at the time of it’s release. I actually have it on two formats – LP and CD. I saw the CD for sale in a used bin and got it as well.
