Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

4. Frank SinatraThe Voice

He’s more subtle on this album than his music after. He doesn’t have that punctuated, typical Frank Sinatra sound on this record. It’s really cosy, and I know I used that word before. I think that when I take a break from music, and I’m not looking for music for dancing, I just seek things that have that cosy feeling. After this record, his music isn’t quite my thing. But this one is just so subtle, and the arrangements are really beautiful. I first heard this in college as well. It was one of the first I got when I was there.
