Blur and Gorrilaz main man Damon Albarn is a potential candidate to oversee the opening ceremony at the 2012 London Olympics.
The Independent claim that Albarn is one of several people being considered for an artistic director position at the games, and has already entered discussions with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
An appointment is expected to be announced next year.
