Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. WeenQuebec

They’re from my town in Pennsylvania and from New Hope, which is the town over from me. They’re so bizarre, they’re so weird, but they’re also really into the four track, and they have noisy elements… they’re a legendary, weird psychedelic band. Getting into their catalogue and getting deeper into it, it was such a fun journey and I became pretty obsessed. But then when [Quebec] came out, the songwriting was next level for any Ween fan. It was really exciting to hear a new Ween album, it was so good for such a late-in-the-game album. It was their eighth album. Driving around Bucks County – where they’re from – and listening to it felt really good. Pure Guava is definitely the ultimate deep cut and I loved that record so much too. But I feel like Quebec is one of those records that I think more people could enjoy. The earlier albums are so popular. I think people do tend to sleep on Quebec. But when you get into it, it’s really fun.
