6. Eddie HazelGame, Dames And Guitar Things

Nathan Means: There is a story – by which I mean one that is totally unverifiable, and maybe further mangled by my telling – that a white dude in his thirties whose last name was actually Bourgeois met Eddie Hazel on the street in Washington, D.C.. They got to talking and then this indie rock musician dude ended up jamming with Eddie Hazel, who was the guitarist in Funkadelic and was maybe sort of homeless at the time. (It is possible to be sort of homeless.) So, I’m jealous. That story also kind of tells the story of this album. Hazel jams on a bunch of non-funk songs including ‘California Dreaming’. You can tell he’s super eager to play, always. The record was cut out by the record company pretty soon after its release. Also, it’s impossible to find.
