1. Da Switch
Now that’s the one that I made in 2002. Every eight bars it goes to a different tune. That had to be the first one in this list because it is an iconic dubplate. There’s so many different moods to it. I remember making this one really well. We were in Dizzee Rascal’s studio in Bermondsey with Nick Cage, his manager. Me and him really designed the track. I told him what I wanted it to do and Nick put on his computer one of the tunes we could work with. Now back then it was different; it was harder in fact because now you can easily produce on computer. But back then it took different programmes and each one needed different ways of working. So for eight bars of every tune, each one had to be recorded into the computer. It all had to be put through. It has a really good intro with that Denzel Training Day section but there’s a few different things on there too, which definitely took a while. There were a few different records that we had to get for the intro alone. But when we made it and when it dropped, that was game over, mate. With Wiley and Dizzee spitting on it as well it was madness. It was a huge for all of us in the early days.
