10. Dj Wire
Right, now back to an old one. That tune right, it comes from Wire who’s Example’s DJ. You know, the chart act. Well his DJ was making grime back in them times, I think it was 2003. Absolutely massive Sidewinder tune with a massive just ‘wubbery’ bass kick. Really underground, dirty, disgusting bass really. Good for mixing, good for chopping, MCs loved to spit over it. And then he did a 4/4 remix of it which made it blow all over again. That one sold a lot of copies and it absolutely deserved to. This was massive at Sidewinder. Junction 12 on the M1 man… wicked tune, though, I mean wicked tune. That was the time I was meeting Jon E Cash and those man. Sanctuary and Sidewinder in particular was nuts and I know they had a long history holding raves, going back to hardcore days in 1992. I liked that from the pirates and followed it as an early teen. From hardcore into jungle and then into garage, then on into grime. That was my route into music. It happened really fast. I can remember it all now, but it happens so fast when you’re in it, let me tell you.
