Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

3. Michael JacksonOff The Wall

I must have been about eight or nine when I first heard this album for the first time. It was always laying around the house, so I would pop it into a cassette. Back then, I didn’t know how deep Michael Jackson’s talent really was, but you can hear the quality in the music as you grow up. I could easily listen to it today – cold album. I wouldn’t be surprised if it influenced my style, along some line. ‘Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough’ is a mad tune. I’d say Off the Wall is a better album than ThrillerThriller is more an album of singles.
