2. The Notorious BIGLife After Death

I was in jail when I first heard this as well – young offenders. I used to listen to rap when I heard it but never made an effort to go out and buy it, but I had come out of [young offenders] when I heard that and started to really take it in. It’s a deep album, almost like a film. Rap wasn’t really a thing over here at the time; we had Blak Twang and Rodney P but nothing to shout about, so we had to lean towards America. My favourite song on this is ‘Niggas Bleed’ – a cold tune. I probably rate Biggie more now that he’s gone. If he was around these days, all the so-called successful rappers now, or mumble rappers, wouldn’t stand a chance. Even listening to Life After Death now, it doesn’t sound dated or old – its sound like now.
