6. Sly & RobbieA Dub Experience

The first dub album I bought from Music Zone in Stockport in 1986. I was really into mixing then, and bought it to play on 45 and mix with hip-hop, as it had that stark, empty sound that a lot of hip-hop had around ’86/’87. Of course it sounded better on 33, and I got to know many classic Sly & Robbie, Dennis Brown, Black Uhuru and Junior Delgado tunes via their dubs on this album. Crisp, spacey magnificence, with a rock-solid bottom end.
