Thelonious ‘Sphere’ Monk! I love that name. I went to see a lot of live jazz, but not as much as I should have done. I used to go to Ronnie Scott’s a lot. You can’t smoke in there now, can you? That must be awful. Everything’s got so much straighter, including Ronnie Scott’s. I read a very good book about Thelonious on tour. He really had a terrible time, facing racial prejudice.
