With the opening notes of this album I’m back in our family home at the age of about 11. It signifies summer days in fields and discovering harmony and a feeling of something out there I wanted. This is such a timeless classic: released in ’69 but undeniably the inspiration for new folk acts like Fleet Foxes, Midlake et al and still sounding fresh and true to this day.
Standout tracks for me: ‘Helplessly Hoping’, ‘Wooden Ships’ and the contender for the most romantic song ever, ‘Lady Of The Island’.
