Another Lionel Bart connection. This is such a rare album – you never find it anywhere. I have a reissue of it, it has an interesting cover, with people like Charlie Chaplin, and Shakespeare on it, icons from her life. I love the fact she does ‘Reviewing The Situation’ and not in a musical way, but like she’s in a band, so it’s a really different version. She also does a great Zeppelin cover – she might be the first person to cover them. She produced it herself, it’s Sandie doing exactly what she wants, then the label wanted her to get back on the treadmill. I was told it was a big bomb. People who might read this will know what I mean when I say it’s her Scott 4. It’s that good. There are some great songs, she does ‘Sympathy For The Devil’ by the Stones, and an incredible ‘Lay Lady Lay’ by Dylan. The cover of the LP says it is “dedicated to the people who have, by their presence or ability influenced pop in the last decade.” It’s a remarkable record that nobody knows about but should be much bigger.
