I had one friend who was very much into Gurdjieff and he had been following this… I don’t know what kind of group, but he was part of this group, and the leader, this American, Bob, was giving instructions to them. It was hard to know much about the directions he got, but one was ‘focus on your left hand for a month’ or something. Also, I read a book, something very vague about Gurdjieff’s teachings. It was interesting but I can’t really put my finger on what aspect, how it was somehow inspiring to me. With this album the master Gurdjieff was making it with this composer and giving direction. He wasn’t a musician, so he was more like, directing. Somehow the album has this very outsider vibe, somehow solitary. It’s a little bit jazzy, also! Somehow it makes me think of being in a cabin, surrounded by a lot of snow, that kind of isolation.
