11. “Blue” Gene TyrannyOut Of The Blue

It’s such a freaky little collection. It kind of makes no sense. And he’s a relatively poorly documented guy, you can’t find out that much about him. There’s a film on him that I haven’t seen [2020’s Just For the Record]. Didn’t he play with The Stooges? 

But ‘Leading A Double Life’ might be my favorite song of all time, and it’s so simple. Even if you’re not musical, there’s some things that are just instant gut-wrenching sounds, and it strikes that chord. It’s a specific harmony that the vocals reach that just cuts through your soul. And you’re like, ‘Why did you do that? Get out of my soul!’ Then he switches up the vibe for the second track, ‘For David K’. It’s got such a beautiful cover too, the album art is gorgeous. The colors are great. You just look at these four tracks, and it’s like, ‘Wow, I want to look inside your brain, and I don’t even know if we’d get on because you seem like a genius.’ How do you have time or space to know how to talk to humans, if you can make this kind of thing?
