Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. Rhythm & SoundRhythm & Sound

The most mysterious choice on your list – a German techno duo who’ve never done an interview…

They are very mysterious! They used to be called Basic Channel and came from the techno scene – they are typical Berlin, dark and repetitive. In the 90s I was into that electronic sound. I don’t know why, but these guys were also aficionados of dub music, and created this German, spacey dub music which is really, really cool. They’d record with Jamaican toasters.

This record is instrumental – it is definitely worth diving into it, especially on ecstasy! I spent hours and hours listening to this record at home too though. I thought it was perfect.
