White Noise – An Electrical Storm

White Noise were a collaboration between American David Vorhaus, Delia Derbyshire and fellow Radiophonic Workshop composer Brian Hodgson. It claimed to be the world’s first ever 3D sound recording (a credible claim given the primitive equipment in the average British household in the late 60s), but behind such a claim lies a record loaded with imagination, brilliant songwriting, groundbreaking production and beautiful, yet frightening arrangements. The whole record should be enjoyed as a sequence as it is certainly a journey, albeit one which almost ends in a horrific motorcycle accident. And seek it out on vinyl, as this record in particular sounds even better then its digital counterpart.

This is also possibly the greatest record ever recorded in Camden.
