Cerrone – Supernature

This record was influential to me not so much because of its music (which I love) but its artwork. The sleeve is rather striking and really struck a chord with me at a young age, tying imagery to music.

It shows Cerrone in a doctor’s surgery, standing in front of a skinned human on an operating table. At his feet are three figures wearing demonic goat, dog and pig heads. In the early 80s (I was about eight or nine at the time) my uncle told me that Cerrone could bring the dead back to life but reincarnating them as mutants. This obviously didn’t mess with my head. Possibly my earliest memory of tying an image to the music I was listening to, and believing it to be true, listening for messages inside the lyrics to reveal more about this guy.
