10. Blur13

I could’ve chosen something more obvious because again, talking about that moment [in the mid-90s], I remember going to see Blur at the Ally Pally – that famous gig with Pulp, Corduroy and Supergrass, and they were giving out bingo cards and it was like, something’s happening here!
I remember spotting Blur in the Coach And Horses pub in Soho – all of them at the bar just after Modern Life Is Rubbish had come out and all wearing cherry red Doc Martens and mod suits, and suddenly something happened and then Parklife changed things. It was a work of art and I saw them many times.But the thing about 13 is that you can sense that they all wanted to be doing their own thing – ‘Coffee And TV’ is pulling in a different direction – which I think is an interesting place to be. It’s an album that’s definitely got its own thing going on.
