2. DarondoLet My People Go

I was given this in 2015, when me and my friend Nick Radford, a great songwriter and DJ, had a 60s soul duo, The Mighty Sceptres. I’d never heard of Darondo before. And what an album! It’s really funky, with his personality at the heart of it, and what an amazing man! He looks like a sculpture of an ancient god and has this incredible, unusual falsetto voice. Apparently, he used to walk around wearing snakeskin shoes, and white fur coats, and drove a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. He travelled around the world working on boats, but when he came back he decided to be a physical therapist and used to take his guitar with him to the hospital to play to his patients to help them get better. He’d get into trouble with the doctors because his methods were unorthodox, but he’d be all, I don’t care, I’m getting results and you’re not!
