This was my mum’s record. Look at the cover! It’s so beautiful. I always wanted to look like that as a child, and recreate that image. I love that it was Ernest Ranglin arranging the songs, who ended up becoming a music director for Studio One and Island. There are so many gorgeous 60s guitar licks and such amazing musicianship on display, and Millie’s voice was so precious to me, even though I didn’t think about her being a child star herself. I was hearing a child’s voice singing songs about boys and pet dogs! There was such an innocence to it. This is a proper comfort blanket for me.
