We want them to be Iron Maiden. Eddie is the enduring mascot of Maiden. Love him or loathe him, Eddie is Maiden and Maiden are Eddie. He has become a superhero, a comic strip icon. Who doesn’t look forward to a new Maiden album just to see what Eddie will look like this time around? I’m a pre-teen trapped in a middle-aged body – I like monsters and Eddie is one of the best, and I think his ultimate manifestation is on the sleeve of Number Of The Beast. Satan, Eddie and Maiden, it’s the perfect recipe.
