John Lydon has been speaking about the new material from Public Image Limited, just as a new track appears online. Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Lydon said that the new PiL album was a summing up of his musical experience. "It’s the scenario to how I lived my life. Led Zeppelin didn’t mean much to anyone in my manor," he explained of his youth in Finsbury Park. "It meant enough, but we had a broad expanse, reggae, Greek and Turkish."
Lydon told the BBC that a new EP will be out in April, and would work as a taster for the new PiL LP. Speaking about the recording sessions, which took place in the rural west of England, Lydon said "we record live, some songs are made up on the spot." He added that the album is "not moody and terrible" adding that it’s "completely experimental." The new track, ‘One Drop’, seems to be a rallying cry to cultural inclusivity, and is certainly not moody or terrible. Listen below.
