One imagines that, come 2010, we’ll be writing that headline without the last word.
For The XX and Wild Beasts have become two of the Quietus’ very favourite bands this year for good reason. They’ve made, right at the decade’s end, what are arguably two of the finest British records in years, and we reckon they’ll be a shoe-in for a nomination next year.
Perhaps it’s a nod from the Mercury Prize organisers, then, that both bands have been asked to play a special, one-off gig together on December 10th. The concert will take place at The Hospital venue in London, and entry is for competition winners only.
