NATO Defeat Arcade Fire

20,000 devastated by military alliance

Portuguese music fans are not going to be able to see Canadian troupe Arcade Fire in Lisbon this month after their gig was deemed a risk to the security of a major NATO conference.

Arcade Fire had been due to play the city’s Atlantica Pavillion on November 18th, the day before the start of a summit of NATO heads of state. Concerns over security led to the city authorities requesting that Arcade Fire cancel their show.

"The band are disappointed to be forced into this situation but there’s nothing more we can do," said Arcade Fire’s manager Scott Rodger. "We will refund all tickets and we’ll endeavour to get back to see our fans in Portugal as soon as we can."
