Alphabet Saints, the duo featuring the talents of Friend of the Quietus Mr Chris Roberts, have their debut album Raptureland out on Monday. It’s an excellent piece, Foxxy synth disco flirting with the insouciant and smokey best end of the gothic, one of David Bowie’s funny waves from Isherwood’s Berlin right up to the bright and shining present. Or, as the pair themselves describe it, "It tells stories of star-crossed lovers living like shivers and dying like Cherokees in post-apocalytic Ballardian landscapes." This sort of thing is, as we are sure you know, right up the Quietus’ strasse.
