Following last year’s Spreo Superbus, London duo Kodiak have put out their second release, the Dragon Drop EP, on Hot Haus Recs. There are a couple of tracks, ‘Dragon Drop’ and ‘Egyptian Kings’, as well as a remix by Eliphino, combining for a merciless sonic assault. Both surge forward with relentless energy, the title track shot through with the freneticism of Chicago juke, and running up to an ace strobing, pitch-shifted vocal sample at the midpoint, while ‘Egyptian Kings’ banks more on a straight-ahead, but no less urgent, house beat.
