After turning down bids from festival planners in England and Spain, Dayton, Ohio indie rockers Guided By Voices have just announced that they will play Norway’s Øya Festival on August 11th.
GBV mainman Robert Pollard got the classic lineup of the band back together for a series of gigs in June 2010 after taking six years off of both recording and playing live, and the reunion tour has continued since. The appearance at Øya marks the band’s first European show since 2002 and their only scheduled date in Europe in 2011.
GBV will join the likes of Aphex Twin, Pulp, Matthew Dear, Hercules & Love Affair, Explosions In The Sky, Death Crush and Kanye West at the Festival, which takes place between August 9th and 13th in Oslo. For more information vist the Oya website.
