Elizabethan magician and philosopher John Dee has been a touchstone for English musicians from Coil to These New Puritans. Damon Albarn is the latest to peer into his black mirror on forthcoming solo album Dr Dee, which comes out via Parlophone on May 7th 2012 (more information at the Dr Dee website). We’re promised that the album will feature "Albarn’s voice with early English choral and instrumentation alongside modern, West African and Renaissance sounds."
