2. The Tower

I started working with Geordie Gordon in 2018. I put out the record In A Poem Unlimited, and I had a band for that. We were gonna go on tour, and almost the whole band bailed on me, so I had to fill some spots. I had never met Geordie before. He was recommended by someone and I reached out to him. He was working at an antique store at the time. I went when he was working one day to chat. We had tea and grapes, and hit it off immediately. We started playing together. It’s wild to trust someone you’ve never seen play, and then you’re like, OK, join my band.’ I always just want to work with people I like, even if they’re not the best player. Do I like you? Do I enjoy hanging out with you? Are you a kind person? With Geordie, I could tell 100 per cent that he was. And then we started rehearsing and it was wild, the energy that he brought. He is very fluid, with his body and music.

He was a big catalyst for me adding dancing and movement on stage because I was trying to match him. Suddenly, there’s a fucking star on stage with this guy. If you have a band, you want everyone to be a star in the band. It makes your job easier. It’s other things to look at, and you’re going to have the best band. You should never hoard the shine or the light, you know. If you share, it always comes back.
