1. MotörheadRock ‘N’ Roll

When we were teenagers, we would always listen to this album – and it was the track ‘Eat The Rich’ that became our anthem. We were this small group of kids in the middle of nowhere, and, as youths, the album captured our frantic energy and the fact we were always very frustrated in the winter times. In Nunavut, you are trapped inside and there isn’t a lot of physical activity to be had in the 24 hours of darkness and when it is minus 50 centigrade outside. So, we would feel trapped and we would listen to that album. We had a lip sync band called ‘The Winter Parkers’ and we would blast out Motörhead and have a lip sync competition. The album helped to release a little of that trapped energy. I didn’t know much more of Motörhead’s work – I just stuck with that album, which manifested itself into my consciousness. and I find it really funny know to think that there were Motörhead fans all over the world and we were this little isolated group of about ten kids near the North Pole, going crazy to Motörhead.
