13. The Offset: SpectaclesThe Offset: Spectacles

This is a band from Beijing that performed with me a few times in China and I couldn’t help but be amazed at the genuine musical exploration and exhilaration of discovery that went on with them night after night. There was this innocent joy of music that never stopped – and this wasn’t just some other sing-song type Chinese music – these people (two guys and a gal) screeched and blew out speakers when they wanted to – then they would hit you with little delicacies and tenderness. They released this, their first record in 2011.

God I hope they stay together.
