7. Brian EnoAnother Green World

I kind of hesitated about putting this on because I’m pretty sure Brian Eno gets enough airtime, but I did really love this record when I first heard it. I still think it’s really great and I like his voice. The record has a nice mixture of instrumental ones and it’s another one that I’d say is pretty pacey, as in they’re all corkers.

I think I first heard it around when I was 26. I can’t remember if anyone specifically introduced me to it. I do remember one friend’s daughter used to really love the one where it says, “I’ll come running to tie your shoes”, which is always quite sweet from a child’s perspective. He’s a seminal person to listen to so it must have just been on a list at some point to listen to it.

‘Golden Hours’ is probably up there as one of my favourite songs. I like the world it inhabits and they’re not songs about, ‘I love you, I don’t love you, no one loves me’. They take me away from that feeling. I find them genuinely quite imaginative, musically beautiful and unusual sounding.
