Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

6. EurythmicsSweet Dreams

I remember when Annie Lennox first came out I just loved her voice and loved her image. She’s very androgynous and different to everyone else, other than someone like Toyah Wilcox, who when I was younger I thought; ‘oh, she’s different.’ There were lots of guys doing what she did but not a lot of women.

Her voice just touched me, it gave me goosebumps. And the lyrics in her songs, the heartfelt songs that she writes. And Dave Stewart, a great musician, a great producer and also a great writer. It was really hard for me to pick which Eurythmics album but I put Sweet Dreams because it was the first one I bought from them. I was about 16 at the time, I’d just started my Page 3 career. A long time ago!
