Peter Gabriel – So

I’m gonna be honest here – this is my guilty secret, this album. I absolutely love it, and I think it’s pretty much because I can associate it with sitting in the car. It wasn’t even an album my dad was into. I don’t even remember how I found it or got into that album, and honestly I’ve never bought – and I’m not saying this ’cause I think it’s a bad thing – I’ve never had any interest in any other Peter Gabriel albums. There’s something about that album which, for me, is a total association, not just with a period in my childhood, but as I’ve grown older I’ve listened back to it, and it’s like ‘Ah, I can understand a little bit more, now I’m a bit older’. It’s also amazingly produced, which I didn’t fully appreciate when I was younger. But listening with the ears I’ve got on me now, you really appreciate the sonics in there. It’s just got a very special place for me, that album. I know it’s not going to do my urban credibility too much good to admit that [laughs], but who gives a shit, you’ve got to be honest in this world.
