What a record. I came across this through an ex-partner of mine who had an amazing record collection and she’d done me a tape of stuff that had a load of great stuff on from Can to Beefheart to White Noise – loads of mad stuff – and then there was this Bongwater track on there called ‘Kisses Sweeter Than Wine’ and it just blew me away. They were an incredible band – I’m not generally a fan of humour in music, I tend to gravitate towards the heavier vibe, but they incorporate that so well along with more harrowing stuff, too. And the melodies are just fucking incredible and beautiful and the structure and layering of the sounds is mind-blowing. It’s a real variety of sounds on here, and another one of those records that I’d listen to just relentlessly.
