Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

3. Brandee YoungerGadabout Season

This is a crazy good album! I’ve been listening to this over the last month and a half on repeat. I listen to it everywhere I go. It reminded me of Alice Coltrane. It made sense when I was reading about how Alice Coltrane was a big inspiration. It makes so much sense because it had an echo of that, but it’s got its own fresh and modern take, and filled with very clean sounds, but it’s not clinical. When I listen to this album, I go to another world. It also makes me want to discover more instrumental records. I love this album so much. I feel like when I listen to it I’m in a movie. I go for a walk and everything is transformed. It’s just so amazing. I don’t understand how somebody writes music like that, as well. I wouldn’t know where to start.
