A little bit before Tapestry came out [1971] I was learning to play piano, and I would attribute a lot of my piano style to that record. I didn’t join Split Enz as a piano player so to some extent I kind of stopped in my tracks as I was developing as a piano player around that time. I’m really enjoying playing piano again a lot on this record, certainly in the gigs I’m doing, and I think I’m shaping up for a piano and vocal record quite soon.

I learnt how to play a number of songs on that record, and some of the way she uses chords and suspensions is ingrained in the way I play piano.
