7. Cixin LiuThe Three-Body Problem

It’s a trilogy written by a Chinese author, so it’s a very different type of sci-fi to what we’re used to, which is mostly English or American. It’s had a lot of success, he’s really innovative in his writing. I will never watch the Netflix adaptation. You put a gun to my head, I will not watch it. These books are unadaptable. I’m not into math — you don’t need to be — but the whole trick in this story is based on science, math, and proportion and atomic size. It’s completely visually unadaptable. I should read the TV reviews for laughs. I was surprised he sold his idea to Netflix, I guess he got a lot of money for it. Maybe he was like, “good luck!”
