Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

8. Toni BraxtonThe Heat

This is a little bit embarrassing but… the first piece of music I ever owned was the ‘Unbreak My Heart’ cassette single, with the Spanish version on the b-side. I used to play it constantly, I don’t know why. I play it now it just sounds crazy and corny – I hate guitar, I don’t know what I was thinking – bad times! I liked Toni Braxton, ‘cos my mum liked Toni Braxton, and we’d listen together, but obviously later on I got into to much weirder stuff. It’s special to me, it was kind of like a bonding moment with my mum.
