Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. PlastikmanArkives 1993 – 2010

The only way to avoid the necessity of choosing only one Plastikman record was to go for the Arkives 1993 – 2010 box set. I got this amazing box only a couple of years ago from a Japanese seller on Discogs, though it was released in 2011 in a very limited number of copies. You get all Plastikman releases, rare videos, an amazing book (94 pages including rare and unseen photos and commissioned text), studio recordings, unreleased versions and single takes from legendary tracks. Spastik Original Recording Sessions, for example, is an amazing sound document that demonstrates how Richie [Hawtin] worked in his studio on single elements of the track, how he used delays, reverbs and filters.

Plastikman is one of those music projects I will always keep in mind, not only for the quality and importance of the musical output, but for the overall artistic vision behind it and the ability to keep it fresh and coherent during the many years.
