And then one night I was like, oh, maybe I’ll watch Thomas Crown Affair. And I really loved the soundtrack – it’s like prog! The songs and the structure – this song doesn’t do the usual kind of pop arrangement, it’s unique and that’s why it has stood the test of time.

When you listen to the lyrics they’re very poignant, and very dark as well. I just love hearing session players from this period – they’re all about feeling. Not busy, not macho, just deftness.
