I love the orchestration. It falls in line with a lot of the European adventures of the day – early Scott Walker, say – it’s just pure cinematic escapism without having to sit down and watch something. It also has that unique happy/sad kinda juxtaposition going on. The music is really happy and kinda ‘isn’t this great!’ But the vocal isn’t. It’s kinda like The Smiths in that regard. Where the music is really happy, but the singer is, like, totally bummed out.
