Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. Led Zeppelin – Physical Graffiti

How important was Jimmy Page as a guitarist to me? I don’t know, but John Bonham is probably my favourite musician. He was very important. I started out playing drums and he was my favourite, so I modelled myself on that and focused on him more than the guitar. It’s still the drums I think of first when I hear Led Zep now.

It’s kind of like Exile On Main Street again, in that there’s so many songs and it’s easy to listen to a lot, because you don’t always remember them. They’re not so great or poppy that you get sick of them, and there’s a lot of stuff to get through.
