I think ‘Oyster Thins’ is one of the best songs ever. I love the songwriting on this record, it has a real naive sensuality to it.

It’s got these really crass, sort of crude, sexual lyrics.

[Heather’s eyes light up] Of course the attraction was also the sexual aspect for me. You know, Mayo lived in Edinburgh for a little while and we used to hang out quite a bit. And we would smoke a lot of weed and go to the whiskey society. He is such a Southern gentleman, and we started spending a whole lot of time with him. He would often come over with demos of the music he was working on and he liked to listen with us and get feedback. I definitely had some pinch me moments with Mayo. I would pump him for stories, I wanted to hear what was really happening with all the Texas bands. I remember him saying that Bubble Puppy were really hard men and everyone was afraid of them. I already loved to this record but then spending so much time with Mayo made it extra special.
